Maxwell appealed the release of his testimony to the Second Circuit Court, which granted a temporary stay on the documents made public.
But other secret files in the defamation case have been ordered unsealed by Manhattan federal court judge Loretta Preska – and Maxwell is now asking that they remain hidden due to the new “critical” information.
His lawyers have asked that the unsealing process be postponed for three weeks, so that they can discuss with federal prosecutors in his criminal case how the new information can be used in the defamation case.
Maxwell was arrested last month and has been held at the Brooklyn Metropolitan Detention Center awaiting trial on a six-count indictment accusing her of procuring Epstein’s daughters for her. abuse and lie about it under oath.
She has pleaded not guilty and maintains her innocence.
While in prison, her lawyers engaged in a bitter legal battle with Giuffre in an attempt to prevent the sealed files in the libel case from being made public.
A batch of unsealed files at the end of last month included a deposition from Giuffre that detailed the sex-filled trips with Maxwell to Epstein’s private Caribbean island.
Maxwell and Epstein used the island to stage “constant” orgies, Giuffre told lawyers during the deposition.
“The island was a place where orgies were a constant. And again, it’s impossible to know how many, ”Giuffre said.
She added that she had seen Maxwell having sex with women all over the island – by a pool, near the beach, in small huts and in Epstein’s cabin.
“An opportunity emerges,” she said. “Models – I think they were mannequins – were flown in. There were orgies organized outside by the pool. “
