New COVID-19 infections in France almost doubled in one day

PARIS (Reuters) – French health authorities reported 1,397 new COVID-19 infections in 24 hours on Tuesday, nearly double the count on Monday.

The Department of Health website said there were 15 new hospital deaths from the disease, up from 16 in a three-day period between Monday and Saturday, with a total toll of 30,354 dead.

The number of people hospitalized with the disease fell again after climbing on Monday for the first time in two and a half months.
