Netflix canceled Tthe society and I don’t agree with that, after renewing both for a second season.

The streaming service explained its decision on the layoffs, saying it was due to “circumstances created by COVID.”

“We made the difficult decision not to move forward with the second seasons of The society and I don’t agree with that“Netflix said in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter.

“We are disappointed to have to make these decisions due to the circumstances created by COVID, and we are grateful to these creators, including: Jonathan Entwistle, Christy Hall, Shawn Levy, Dan Levine, Dan Cohen and Josh Barry of 21 Laps Entertainment for I don’t agree with that.

“Chris Keyser, Marc Webb and Pavlina Hatoupis for The society; and all the writers, actors and crews who have worked tirelessly to make these shows for our members around the world. ”

The society played Kathryn Newton and followed a group of teenagers who are transported to a version of their parentless city, where they must form order and alliances to survive.

It received a second season renewal last July, after the first season ended on a big cliffhanger. However, despite being renewed over a year ago, THR reports the scripts had not yet been written for the second season.

I don’t agree with that was based on the Charles Forsman comic book. As The society, the also ended his first season on a major cliffhanger.

While a second season was never officially announced, THR says so had been quietly renewed by Netflix with scripts already completed for new episodes.
