Michael Jordan Nike Air Ship Pro “Bred” released

After 36 years, Michael Jordan’s famous black and red “Banned” Nike Air Ship Pro sneakers are expected to be released for the very first time. Unexpectedly, the all-new shoe that launched the classic ‘Bred’ colourway will be available exclusively at Italian retailer Back-Door Bottega this month.

In addition to teasing the outing on Instagram, Back-Door Bottega also created a special landing page that breaks down the importance of the air ship.

Worn by Michael Jordan at the start of the 1984-85 NBA preseason in just three games and his first two months of training with the Chicago Bulls. “His Airness” was fined US $ 5,000 each time he wore the sneakers because they violated the league’s uniform policy.

The all-important Nike Air Ship Pro “Bred” was hastily assembled by the Nike team after MJ’s signing and the Air Jordan 1 was just an idea at the time. Nike assembled the shoe with the upper of the Nike Air Ship and the midsole and sole of the Nike Pro Circuit tennis shoe. The Air Ship’s usual sole unit was replaced because it was too high and heavy for MJ, who typically wore mid or low design shoes in the field.

The upcoming release at Back-Door Bottega is a total surprise, as a shoe with such historic weight in the basketball world would typically be announced by Jordan Brand. Interestingly, images of the retro Air Ship Pro will feature a midsole assisted by Nike REACT cushioning.

Back-Door Bottega Founder Marco Evangelisti said: “All I can say, as a collector and huge fan of Michael Jordan, is that I am really proud and excited to choose the Jordan brand to give. me and my Back-Door Bottega store the exclusive premiere of this masterpiece. Released August 7, on Bottega Back-Door, stay tuned! ”

According to Back-Door Bottega, the extremely rare shoes will be released at a store, where customers will need to find one of 150 stickers hidden in iconic landmarks in Bologna, Italy, August 1-6. QR codes that will allow you to participate in the raffle.

Stay tuned for more details.
