Meghan Markle and Prince Harry finally feel at home.

After leaving the British royal family earlier this year, the couple first traveled to Canada and then spent several months in Los Angeles, the hometown of the American actress. Most recently, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex bought their first home in Santa Barbara, California.

A royal source told People magazine in this week’s issue that the move marked a “pivotal moment” for the 39-year-old former “Suits” star, the 35-year-old British Prince and their son. an, Archie.

“It’s their permanent home,” the insider told celebrity magazine. “Since Archie’s arrival, everything has been so turbulent, and a lot has happened in the air. It was not necessarily easy. For the first time in a long time, they have a clear direction. ”

The source noted that Santa Barbara would be the perfect place to raise their firstborn and give it a sense of normalcy.

“They both love California and Santa Barbara has a magic: the mountains, the oceans, the vineyards, the flowers, the gardens,” the source said. ” It is so beautiful. ”

The family is close to Markle’s mother, Doria Ragland.

“Archie is really happy and he has room to run around freely,” the insider explained. “The house has come with a play structure that he’ll be scaling up in no time. They are thrilled to be there and to be part of the community. It’s a really happy time for them as a family.

Earlier this month, a representative for the couple confirmed to Fox News that they had purchased a home in the coastal town.

“The Duke and Duchess of Sussex moved into their family home in July this year,” a spokesperson said. “They have settled into the quiet privacy of their community since arriving and hope this will be respected for their neighbors, as well as for them as a family. ”

In January, the couple announced they would take “a step back” as senior members of the royal family and work independently, dividing their time between the UK and North America.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex said their decision came after many months of internal reflection and discussions.

“We have chosen to make a transition this year by starting to carve out a new progressive role within this institution”, then shared the duo on Instagram. “We intend to step back as ‘senior’ members of the Royal Family and work towards becoming financially independent while continuing to fully support Her Majesty The Queen. It is with your encouragement, especially in recent years, that we feel ready to make this adjustment.

“We now plan to balance our time between the UK and North America, continuing to honor our duty to The Queen, the Commonwealth and our patronages,” the couple continued in the post. “This geographical balance will allow us to raise our son enjoying the royal tradition into which he was born, while providing our family with space to focus on the next chapter, including the launch of our new charitable entity. ”
