Mark Carney, Former Head of Bank of Canada and Bank of England, Joins Brookfield Asset Management


Brookfield Asset Management has appointed Mark Carney as Vice President and Head of ESG Investing and Impact Funds.Carney is currently the United Nations Special Envoy for Climate Action and Finance.

Brookfield said the former Governor of the Bank of Canada and the Bank of England brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the post.

Carney has long been an advocate for calls to action on climate change.

Brookfield said it will work to develop a group of funds that combine positive social and environmental outcomes with strong risk-adjusted returns.

Brookfield is an alternative asset manager with approximately US $ 550 billion in assets under management.

“Building on our track record in renewable investing, Mark will help accelerate our efforts to combine better long-term results for the company with strong risk-adjusted returns,” said Bruce Flatt, Managing Director of Brookfield , in a press release.
