Manchester United are considering signing RB Leipzig defender Dayot Upamecano this summer, according to reports.
Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer plans to improve several areas of his squad this week, with Ajax midfielder Donny van de Beek set to join Ajax on a £ 40million transfer.
And the Red Devils boss is looking to improve his center-back options to find the perfect match for United captain Harry Maguire.

And according to ESPN, Solskjaer is confident in reaching a deal for Upamecano ahead of the October 5 transfer deadline.
The 21-year-old Frenchman recently signed a new contract with the Bundesliga club, which reached the semi-finals of the Champions League before being eliminated by Paris Saint-Germain.
Upamecano had a £ 53million release clause in his previous contract, but the new deal reportedly saw that figure drop to £ 37million – although it could not be activated until after the 2020-2021 season.

The French defender has played 112 times for Leipzig since joining Red Bull Salzburg in January 2017.
Of those displays, 37 came in last season and Upamecano impressed when Julian Nagelsmann’s side reached the bottom four in the competition.
In terms of center-back options, Manchester United currently have Eric Bailly and Victor Lindelof battling for the first-team places alongside Maguire, while Marcos Rojo and Chris Smalling have been loaned out in the 2019 season- 20.
Meanwhile, Phil Jones only played eight times in all competitions under Solskjaer last year and the 28-year-old has been linked with a departure from Old Trafford.

Manchester United are also looking to improve their attacking line, with Borussia Dortmund’s Jadon Sancho topping their list of transfer targets.
The 20-year-old England international was the subject of an approach from the Premier League club earlier this summer, but United missed Dortmund’s August 10 deadline to finalize a deal.
Despite the setback, the Red Devils believe they can still make a deal for Sancho by the end of the transfer window in October.
