A man in his 20s fought for his life after being stabbed near a McDonald’s in north London.

Police rushed to Colindale’s fast food restaurant Barnet at around 6:40 p.m. today following reports of a stabbing.

About eight police cars attended the scene alongside paramedics and the Air Ambulance.

The Metropolitan Police and the London Ambulance Service confirmed the man was in critical condition and had been taken by ambulance to “a large trauma center in London”.

The McDonald’s restaurant was cordoned off to the public after the incident, with officers asking Londoners to avoid the area due to road and business closures.

No arrests were made.

Witnesses said tonight the victim collided with McDonald’s after being stabbed in a housing estate across the road.

Others reported that the incident took place in an alley near the restaurant.

“I was sitting inside and heard all those police sirens. I saw two cops rushing into the McDonalds with stunned people crowding outside, ”one of them told the Daily Star.

“It happened in broad daylight. It’s horrible. I was told the person had been stabbed on our estate and then crossed the road and stumbled upon McDonald’s.

“The whole area is now registered pending forensics. We cannot go in or out.

Another witness claimed the man was carried out of the restaurant on a stretcher.

In a statement, Metropolitan Police said: “Police were called at around 6:40 pm on Monday August 10 for reports of a man being stabbed in Colindeep Lane, NW9.

Officers and the London ambulance service were present and the man, who is believed to be 20, is being treated at the scene.

Road closures, including local businesses around the junction with Zenith Close, remain closed.

Investigations into the circumstances are continuing. No arrests.

A spokesperson for the London Ambulance Service added: “We were called today (Monday 10 August) at 6:40 pm for reports of a stabbing in Colindeep Lane, NW9.

“We sent a number of resources to the scene, including an ambulance, two medics in response cars, and an incident response officer. We also dispatched the air ambulance from London.

“We treated a person at the scene before taking him by road to a large trauma center in London. “
