Having won a 19th top-flight title, Liverpool are unlikely to transform their squad in the transfer market this summer. But Jurgen Klopp has a lot to think about, and he can take a leaf from Sir Alex Ferguson’s book. The Scotsman rarely rested on his laurels at Manchester United and often looked to make improvements when his team watched their strongest.

Rumor has it linked the Reds with a number of potential additions this summer, with the payroll gap opening up following the departures of Dejan Lovren, Adam Lallana and Nathaniel Clyne.

Here are all the latest transfer gossip.

Bayern boss hints at Thiago leaving

Bayern manager Hansi Flick suggested Thiago could be linked for the Premier League

A month after securing the national double in Germany, Bayern Munich return to action this weekend.

They have one foot in the Champions League quarter-finals, taking a 3-0 lead at the Allianz Arena for the second leg of their round of 16 against Chelsea.

Liverpool fans will no doubt keep a watchful eye on Thiago, who has been heavily linked with the move to Merseyside as he enters the final year of his contract with the Bavarian giants.

Bayern manager Hansi Flick gave an update ahead of Saturday’s Champions League exit – and that certainly suggests the Spain international is set to move.

“I can understand when a player is thinking of a move,” he said (via TalkSport).

“Thiago played for FC Barcelona in Spain and for FC Bayern München in Germany. If he wants to play in the Premier League now, I understand that perfectly.

“But that would be a shame, because Thiago gives us that little extra.

“That’s why I would like to keep him for the next few years as a coach, but that’s life. It continues.

Reds face competition for Lovren replacement

Aissa Mandi is a target for several clubs, including Liverpool

Real Betis defender Aissa Mandi has been named to replace Lovren at Liverpool this summer, but they will likely face competition for his signing.

The 55-cap Algeria international is entering the final year of his Betis contract, but the La Liga side have reportedly rejected a £ 9million offer from Liverpool.

Inside Futebol report that Betis are hoping Mandi will sign a new deal with the club, while Turkish outlet A Spor suggests that Fenerbahce hope to sign him.

West Ham was also mentioned as a potentially interested party.

Newcastle interested in Harry Wilson

Harry Wilson is targeted by a number of clubs following his loan spell with Bournemouth

The Northern Echo report that Newcastle United are the latest Premier League club to want to sign Liverpool academy graduate Harry Wilson.

It has been widely reported that Liverpool will allow the 23-year-old Welsh international to leave the club this summer, having loaned him to Derby County and Bournemouth for the past two seasons.

Leeds United, Aston Villa and Crystal Palace have all been linked with signing a permanent deal with Wilson, but the latest report from the Northeast suggests Steve Bruce’s Magpies want to borrow another loan from him.

Amid the collapse of a takeover bid and growing economic uncertainty, it has been suggested that Newcastle will look to use the loan market this summer. Chelsea youngster Conor Gallagher is another player they have reportedly identified.

Reports in local Watford media that Liverpool are one of three Premier League clubs to keep tabs on Hornets striker Ismaila Sarr has been corroborated by The Times.

The report says the club will monitor Sarr’s situation at Vicarage Road following Watford’s relegation from the Premier League.

The 22-year-old Senegal international joined Watford on a record-breaking £ 30million deal last summer, and it has been suggested that the Hornets will demand hefty fees for the player, who remains under contract at club until 2024.
