Thiago’s transfer strategy
German football expert Raphael Honigstein has said Liverpool’s silence could be part of their transfer strategy when it comes to potentially signing Thiago Alcantara from Bayern Munich.
Speaking to Sky Sports, as quoted by This Is Anfield, he said: “Bayern put a contract on the table, they thought he had agreed, he changed his mind and at that point, well of course the club thinks ‘OK he has a deal with someone else’.
“But that someone else hasn’t revealed their hand yet.” There was no firm offer from anyone.
“I think Bayern are preparing for Liverpool, because that’s the club he’s been linked with and it’s rumored in the dressing room that he was talking about Liverpool.
“But we haven’t seen any offers from Liverpool come up.
“Liverpool themselves, of course, have distanced themselves several times from making a move for Thiago.
“Again, that might just be part of their strategy right now.
“But I think Bayern are now more or less resigned to his departure, which I think is a blow to them. “
