Live updates from the 2020 NHL playoffs: Oilers-Blackhawks qualifying round highlights


The NHL is finally back after a four-month hiatus due to the coronavirus pandemic. The resumption of the sport gets right to the heart of the matter, immediately jumping into the 2020 Stanley Cup Playoffs with an all-time 24 teams that had the chance to lift the Lord Stanley Cup.An unprecedented number of teams requires an unprecedented playoff format to go along with it. The first part of the playoffs includes a qualifying round where teams outside of the top four from each conference will face off in a five-game series for one of the eight remaining places in the next round – the remaining top four have already qualified. for the next round. Now there is a Western Conference game between the Edmonton Oilers, who boasted the fifth-best conference record before the coronavirus shutdown, and the Chicago Blackhawks, who boasted the 12th-best record. You can catch the first game of their series on NBC.
