It was the third day in a row that COVID-19 cases have increased by more than 50,000 and the second day India has recorded more than 55,000 cases.
The recovery rate rose to 64.54% while the death rate fell further to 2.18%. The positivity rate is 8.57%.
Maharashtra remains the worst-affected state with a total of 411,798 cases, including 2,48615 recovered cases and 1,48,150 active cases. It is followed by Tamil Nadu, which has 2 39,978 cases, and then Delhi, which has 1,34,403 cases.
According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), a total of 1,939.58,659 samples have been tested through July 31, with 5,25,689 being examined on Friday.
