Klopp warned of Thiago’s key trait that could cause Liverpool in huge dilemma

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp could face a dilemma as to whether the advantages of a move for Thiago Alcantara outweigh the disadvantages, according to an expert.

Several reports in recent months have linked the Reds to a move for the Spaniard. Thiago has turned down a new contract at Bayern and is looking for a new adventure.

Bayern CEO Karl-Heinz Ruminegge said he would do business with a club that presents a “fair offer”. Head coach Hansi Flick, meanwhile, said he would “totally understand” if the midfielder wanted to move to the Premier League.

Thiago is reportedly keen on a move to Liverpool as he looks to continue his trophy-filled career with Klopp’s men.

According to Steve Nicol, however, Klopp must ensure that the 29-year-old is worth bringing to Anfield.

“I would sign it, don’t get me wrong,” said Nicol ESPN FC. “I think he’s a great footballer and he can pass the ball.

“Unfortunately, he just doesn’t fit the mold of what Liverpool are doing in the middle of the park right now. Yes, he has talent, but he must also have dynamism, he must have legs, he must close quickly, he must have energy.

“These are things that all these players in the middle of the park for Liverpool to have. It’s not Alcantara.

Nicol has admitted, however, that there are certain qualities that would make Thiago a welcome addition to Klopp’s squad.

He added: “But at the same time, having a player like that to evolve, he can play in the FA Cup, in the League Cup, you can bring him in and give him half an hour to pass the ball if it is. is that you need.

“I would sign him, I think he’s a quality player. If the money is right, go get it.

Reliable sources claimed earlier this week that a ‘fair deal’ for Thiago would start at around £ 27million.

More recently, Liverpool have reportedly taken the first steps to firm up their interest in the midfielder.
