The seven nominees for the 2019/20 Premier League Player of the Season award

Liverpool trio Jordan Henderson, Sadio Mane and Trent Alexander-Arnold are among the seven nominees for the 2019/20 Premier League Player of the Season award.

Henderson captained Liverpool in his first Premier League title and has already won the Football Writers’ Association Footballer of the Year award.

Mane has once again proven to be a hugely reliable provider of goals and assists for Jurgen Klopp’s side, registering 18 and 7 respectively.

Alexander-Arnold – who is the only nominee to also appear on the Young Player of the Year list – was instrumental in Liverpool’s campaign and recorded 13 assists, just behind Kevin De Bruyne.

De Bruyne is the only Manchester City player to be nominated for the player of the season award after relinquishing his Premier League title at Liverpool after two seasons as champions.

But even though City’s national campaign fell short of its previous high standards, De Bruyne enjoyed his most productive season since joining the Etihad in 2015.

As well as registering 20 assists – tying the league record set by Thierry Henry in 2003 – he also scored 13 times to help City finish as the division’s top scorer for the third consecutive season.

Golden Boot winner Jamie Vardy is also on the shortlist after his 23 goals helped Leicester to a fifth – their second best ranking in the Premier League.

Southampton striker Danny Ings missed the Golden Boot share with Vardy by just one goal, but could beat his fellow England striker for the Player of the Season award after also receiving a nomination.

The latest nominee is Nick Pope, who has played every minute of Burnley’s Premier League season and won 15 clean sheets – second only to Golden Glove winner Ederson.

Nominations for the Premier League Manager of the Season finalist list will be released at noon. Prize winners will be announced at 10 a.m. on Thursday, August 13.

Additionally, Greenwood has scored 10 goals in 31 games during a breakout season for the 18-year-old.

Manchester United goalkeeper Dean Henderson, who spent the 2019/20 campaign with Sheffield United, is also nominated for the Young Player of the Season award.

The 23-year-old recorded 13 clean sheets – the third-highest in the league – in 36 games to help the Blades to a very respectable ninth place on their return to the top flight.

Henderson’s performances in the 2019/20 season were so impressive that he is set to land a new long-term contract at Old Trafford, and could even challenge David de Gea for the No.1 spot at United the next period.

Chelsea duo Mason Mount and Christian Pulisic are on the finalist list after helping the Blues to the top-four in their debut Premier League season.

Mount recorded seven goals and five assists – including one each in the 2-0 win over Wolves that secured Champions League qualification on the final day – and has appeared in all but one of Chelsea’s games.

Pulisic overcame a slow start to the season and a long-lasting injury to shine for Chelsea after arriving from Borussia Dortmund, scoring nine goals to finish as the club’s second-highest goalscorer, as well as four assists.

The nominations for the Young Player of the Season are rounded out by Jack Grealish, who was instrumental in keeping Aston Villa in the Premier League after his promotion.

He topped the standings for goals and assists at Villa in the 2019/20 campaign, with eight and six respectively, and scored in their final matchday draw at West Ham, which helped ensure their leading status.

Giggs: Utd should hunt Grealish and Sancho

Former Manchester United winger and Wales boss Ryan Giggs believes his former club should try to sign both Jadon Sancho and Jack Grealish.

“Two good players,” Wales boss Giggs told the Webby and O’Neill YouTube Channel. “I think the thing with Grealish is he’s obviously used to the Premier League and doesn’t need to adapt to it, so that’s good.

“To me from the outside it looks like he’s got the mentality to come here and not bother him. Some players can be intimidated. ”

Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount says his first Premier League season has been a learning curve and he can’t wait to play again

Chelsea head coach Frank Lampard has said he believes England midfielder Mason Mount can still improve and have a long career with the club.

Lampard praised Mount on a decisive campaign in which he set new records at Stamford Bridge and was also selected to play for England.

“He will definitely get better because he’s so young,” Lampard said. “When a player comes in and plays in his breakthrough year and he’s constantly on the team, people sometimes treat him like he’s older than them. But he’s still young.

“His full game for the season has been brilliant. His work ethic and daily training are excellent. He has already contributed a lot, but he will also be much better. This is just the start for Mason at Chelsea. ”
