Joe Budden announced that his popular program Joe Budden Podcast with Rory and Mal will no longer stream on Spotify, as Variety and the Verge report. Budden broke the news in the last episode of the podcast, which was released earlier today (August 26). “On September 23, I can’t tell you where this podcast will be,” Budden said. “But as it is, I can tell you where it won’t be, and that’s Spotify. The show has been an exclusive Spotify podcast for two years.According to Variety and The Verge, Budden said the streaming service is “looting” its audiences. Budden reportedly spent much of the three-and-a-half-hour podcast detailing his deal with Spotify. Budden also reportedly said the streaming giant “never cared about this podcast individually. Budden also said the podcast was “undermined and undervalued”. Budden has suggested that only seven more episodes of the podcast will be released on Spotify.
Spotify offered no comment when reached by Pitchfork.
