Joe Budden leaves Spotify: Spotify releases official statement

Spotify is releasing an official statement on Joe Budden leaving the streaming service.

Joe Budden is the host of one of the world’s most successful music-centric podcasts. He made the transition to the podcasting world perfectly and two years ago he entered a strong market by signing exclusively to Spotify. Sadly, their partnership just didn’t work out because after Joe asked for a raise in his salary, the streaming service didn’t end up offering him enough to keep him.

The most recent episode of the podcast explored Joe’s frustrations with Spotify over his contract negotiations, claiming he was “undermined and undervalued.” He added in a statement to Variety that after September 23, he no longer knows where his podcast will be hosted.

As the working relationship between Joe Budden and Spotify comes to an end, the streaming giant has released a statement about Joe’s departure.

“We wanted to keep Joe Budden on Spotify. As Joe mentioned on his show, we made him a huge offer – a much bigger offer and several times the value of the existing deal and reflecting the current market and the size of its audience. Unfortunately, we couldn’t come to an agreement and we respect his wishes to find a new home for his show, ”contacted us a spokesperson for Spotify.

Where do you think Joe will sign? Could his podcast be directed to another streaming service or will he find an alternative solution?
