“Yes, and without Stone Cold testifying to the composition,” Ross said. “All these guys, when they saw Steve come down, knew there was a place now, a first place, the door was open to opportunity. I said the same to the guys – the way is clear, become a star and take the opportunity. at that point because I always believed Steve was coming back, and he did. No one forgot Austin, but it gave these other guys like Triple H [an opportunity], who really had a hell of a year that year.
“He’s really evolved into a really good wrestling heel. He could fight, he incorporated the hammer every now and then, and his mic skills kept improving. I always gave him credit for it. He never stopped trying to improve even though he was. sitting in a good political position, sporting, in terms of age. He was a great addition to what we were doing, but it wouldn’t have been as effective if he hadn’t taken on the challenge to get better, better, and keep becoming a bigger star. ”
Vince McMahon vs. Stone Cold Steve Austin was widely regarded as the greatest rivalry in the Age of Attitudes. Ross spoke of Vince McMahon during the era of attitude like a heel and says he was the tallest of the time. Ross also shares who he believes was not far behind in the heel heat.
“Vince was the high heel of the Attitudes era and I believe that, but Stephanie wasn’t that far behind,” Ross said. “She was as natural a heel as we are. She just had that Vince gene that went so well as an antagonist. ”
Over the years in WWE, Vince McMahon is known to have been listening to the play-by-play commentator by telling them what to say at times. Ross was WWE’s play-by-play announcer, primarily during the Attitude Era, and he was known as the voice of society. Ross spoke in his ear about McMahon and the stars he would talk about the most, and also talked about who would count him to go to commercials during shows.
“Kevin Dunn didn’t talk too much or overstate his role in the truck because he knew we were being monopolized by the old man,” Ross said. “On segments involving Stephanie and Hunter, Vince was probably a little more aggressive and active than he would be with other matches because there is a personal investment in his daughter and son-in-law. ”
