Jet2 cancels more flights and vacations in Spain for another blow to thousands of customers

Leeds-based airline Jet2 has announced it is canceling more flights to the Spanish islands, a blow to thousands of holidaymakers. The airline initially canceled all vacations to mainland Spain until August 16 inclusive, but flights to the Balearics and Canaries were only canceled until August 9.

However, Jet2 has now released new information that relates to anyone hoping to travel to Tenerife, Fuerteventura, Gran Canaria, Lanzarote, Mallorca, Menorca or Ibiza next week.

In a statement, Jet2 said: “As the government has not changed its advice regarding travel to the Balearic and Canary Islands from the UK, we have made the decision to suspend flights and vacations to the Balearic Islands and Canaries until August 15 inclusive. . ”

This means that people with flights booked to anywhere in Spain next week will no longer be able to travel.

Jet2 criticized the “uncertainty” of the government’s blanket ban. The Foreign and Commonwealth Office currently advises against all but essential travel to both mainland Spain and the Spanish islands.

There’s also another warning from Jet2 that vacations booked beyond August 15 may still be affected.

The statement continued, “With respect to travel to these destinations, we will have staggered start dates and we will make additional adjustments to our flight schedules, meaning that some flights on this date and beyond may be. canceled. ”

Jet2 customers affected by the latest changes will be contacted by the airline to discuss options, which will include either a reservation change without administration fees, a credit note with refund, or a full cash refund.
