the Mastiffs are said to be ready to offer around £ 17million for El Bufalo, with West Brom also interested.
But speaking to former Liverpool team-mate Jamie Carragher on Sky Sports, the Rangers boss insists that kind of speculation won’t affect him or his team.
Gerrard said, “Look, at the moment we haven’t received an auction that matches an evaluation for any of our players.
“It’s something I’m used to, we’ve had some noise around Morelos since the first day I entered.
“He’s a fantastic player, he scored 77 goals in 137 games. You know and I know you hear some noise around these type of players, but this will definitely be the one where I, the coaching staff and the board sit down.
“If the numbers match what they are happy with, then we make the decision from there.
“But what’s for sure is that we don’t want to lose any of our best players, and he’s definitely a top player.
“But if that happens, it will be for a lot of people for sure. ”
Gerrard has also confirmed that he is looking to add to his squad whether or not his star striker leaves.
He confirmed: “There are just a few areas that we are looking to strengthen.
“I’m pretty open about it. We are close on a couple of things, obviously I can’t name names.
“I made it clear that we are looking for options in the attack areas, and that we are also looking for something in the engine room at the moment.
“That’s all I can say on that at the moment and we’re close on a couple of things.
“But until we can finalize them and over the line, I don’t want to count my chickens. “
