Boston Buddies, who teamed up the last two fall seasons on a Harpoon Dunkin ‘Coffee Porter, expand the reach of their seasonal beers with a pumpkin spiced milk ale as well as two donut-based beers. Yes, you read that right. Donuts.
In September, kegs, bottles and cans of Harpoon Dunkin ‘Pumpkin Spiced Latte Ale, Coffee Porter, Boston Kreme Stout, and Jelly Donut IPA are expected to be available on the East Coast.
The idea came during meetings to discuss Harpoon’s partnership with Dunkin ‘. “You get creative brewers together, maybe over a few beers, and of course the conversation turns to ‘How could we make beer with donuts? “” Dan Kenary, CEO and co-founder of Harpoon, told CNN Business.
Donut-infused breweries aren’t new to the craft beer world, but it’s the first such move by Harpoon and Dunkin ‘.
For beers without donuts, Harpoon kept the original Coffee Porter recipe and created the pumpkin by brewing real pumpkin with a touch of coffee and pumpkin pie spice.
“It tastes like fall,” Kenary said. “And that gives the pumpkin a bit of sophistication with the coffee flavors. ”
The multi-year partnership with Harpoon helps put Dunkin ‘in a different light – and in different aisles of the store, said Brian Gilbert, vice president of retail business development for the coffee and donut company.
“It keeps the brand at the forefront of people’s concerns,” he told CNN Business.
