Hulkenberg fails to start British Grand Prix

Hulkenberg was recruited at the last minute to return to Formula 1 this weekend at Silverstone after Racing Point driver Sergio Perez tested positive for COVID-19.After completing his first laps in F1 since early December in preliminary practice on Friday, Hülkenberg qualified 13th in RP0, narrowly missing a place in Q3.

But Hulkenberg was denied the chance to start at Silverstone after a power pack issue surfaced on his car before the race.

The Hulkenberg crew were seen packing their bags on the grid as the team tried to remedy the issue that would allow them to start the race from the pit lane.

“We were unable to turn on the power unit and investigations are underway as to why,” a team spokesperson told

There are only 19 cars left on the field for the British Grand Prix, with Racing Point fielding only Lance Stroll, who will start from sixth place.
