Ebro in the morning addressed the controversy over their show this morning while apologizing to listeners and fans for how the whole situation turned out. “The company started getting to work on who knew what, when Paddy was hired and what was going to be the response because that wouldn’t be allowed to fly,” Ebro explained before Laura added that Raucci was at Hot 97 more than any of the hosts. “The realization is that it couldn’t be swept under the rug, obviously, so he got fired,” Ebro added.
Laura went on to explain that the staff only knew him as Paddy Duke without knowing his real name, although Ebro admitted that he was aware of Raucci’s connection to the case.
“He told me he got caught up in Yusef Hawkins’ situation. He also told me he had nothing to do with it, ”Ebro said. “It was – it must have been over 8, 10 years ago. I didn’t know he had committed a misdemeanor because he had been charged with a misdemeanor and I did not know that his file had been deleted. ”
He added, “From what I know from the NYPD, neighborhoods are swept away by murder, it’s normal procedure, especially in the late 80s and 90s. If you were outside, if you was near the park, if you were anywhere you were blown away. ”
As Ebro approached the situation head-on, he apologized to viewers and supporters for the situation. “On behalf of our team at Ebro In The Morning, we apologize that tonight is happening,” he said. “It was out of our control, but we apologize and we are here now. We have inherited something that we as a team have to deal with most of the time. ”
