“Chadwick’s passing is absolutely devastating. He was our T’Challa, our Black Panther and our dear friend, ”Kevin Feige, president of Marvel Studios and Creative Director at Marvel said in a statement Friday night. “Every time he stepped on set, he radiated charisma and joy, and every time he appeared on screen, he created something truly indelible. He embodied a lot of amazing people in his work, and no one was better at bringing great men to life. He was as smart and kind, powerful and strong as any person he represented. Now he takes his place alongside them as an icon for the ages. The Marvel Studios family mourn their loss deeply, and we mourn with their family tonight.
I am absolutely devastated. It is beyond heartbreak.
Chadwick was special. A true original. He was a deeply committed and constantly curious artist. He still had so much incredible work to create. I am infinitely grateful for our friendship. Rest in power, king pic.twitter.com/oBERXlw66Z

“It was supposed to be for Chadwick and I to be connected, for us to be family. But what many don’t know is that our story began long before his historic turning point as the Black Panther. On Black Panther’s first night, Chadwick reminded me of something. He whispered that when I received my honorary degree from Howard University, his alma mater, he was the student assigned to accompany me that day. And here we are, years later, as friends and colleagues, enjoying the most glorious night of all time! We had spent weeks getting ready, working, sitting side by side every morning on make-up chairs, getting ready for the day together as mother and son. I am honored that we enjoyed this full circle experience. The dedication of this young man was impressive, his smile contagious, his talent unreal. I therefore pay homage to a beautiful spirit, to an accomplished artist, to a moving brother… “you are not dead but stolen away…”. Everything you owned, Chadwick, you gave freely. Rest now, sweet prince. #WakandaForever

The real power of @ChadwickBoseman was greater than anything we saw on screen. From the Black Panther to Jackie Robinson, he’s inspired generations and shown them that they can be anything they want, even super heroes. Jill and I pray for her loved ones during this difficult time.
