Highams Park live: teen fights for his life after stabbing at railway crossing

A teenager is fighting for his life after being stabbed near a level crossing in east London. The 18-year-old was rushed to hospital after the incident near Highams Park station in Waltham Forest.

The injuries were reportedly sustained during a fight involving three other people.

The incident caused delays on a large part of the air network.

Trains between Liverpool Street and Chingford / Cheshunt have been affected.

An update on the National Rail website reads, “Emergency services are currently facing an incident near Highams Park. Trains between London Liverpool Street and Chingford / Cheshunt may be canceled, delayed or revised. ”

One person was arrested

Another teenager was arrested on suspicion of being involved in the fight.

The police spokesperson said: “An 18-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of a fight and is currently in custody.”

A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said: “Police were called shortly before 2:30 am on Tuesday August 18 following reports of a man injured by a stabbing near a level crossing on the road. ‘avenue Jubilee.

“Before the London ambulance service arrived, officers carried out first aid on the 18-year-old. He was taken to a hospital in east London and his injuries are currently considered life threatening.

“The man was allegedly injured in a fight with three other men near the level crossing. “

Larkshall Road closed in both directions

As a result of the incident, Larkshall Road was closed in both directions.
