Toymaker Hasbro is removing a Trolls doll from shelves over accusations it promotes child abuse.
The company has faced concerns from parents about her “Trolls World Tour Giggle and Sing Poppy” doll, and more specifically the placement of her sound activation button, located under the doll’s skirt and between her legs. The button is expected to be activated – and the doll would laugh – when placed in a sitting position.
The toy sale sparked an online petition calling retailers such as Walmart, Target and Amazon with a parent suggesting the toy “conditioned our children to think pedophilia is okay.”

“This is not correct for a child’s toy! This toy needs to be removed from our stores, “wrote Jessica McManis, who started the petition.” What will this toy make our innocent and impressionable children think? How funny is it when someone touches your private space? That pedophilia and pedophilia are OK? This is not ok! It’s not funny! It’s damaging and has long term effects [sic] on a child’s mental / physical health! ”
The Change.org petition has already collected over 130,000 signatures.
“This feature was designed to react when the doll was seated, but we recognize that the placement of the sensor may be perceived as inappropriate,” Julie Duffy, a spokesperson for Hasbro told the Providence Journal in an email. “It was not intentional and we are happy to provide consumers with a replacement Poppy doll of similar value through our consumer care team. We are in the process of removing the item for purchase. ”
Hasbro did not immediately return a request for comment to Fox News.
