Pochettino had guided Tottenham to a first-ever Champions League final just six months before his sacking, but that mattered little.
Kane was perhaps the biggest beneficiary of the 48-year-old’s job and revealed that his former boss had no idea he was going to lose his job.
“He didn’t already know, I spoke to him last night,” Kane said as he spoke to his teammates.
“Mauricio said to me, ‘The president called me and said,’ May I speak? It will be a shame but you will have to pack your bags and leave this evening ”.
Pochettino was replaced by Jose Mourinho within 24 hours as Tottenham moved quickly to secure their next manager.
The Argentine had guided the north Londoners to their highest ranking in the Premier League and secured four successive rankings in the top four.
His firing therefore saw President Daniel Levy criticized for what some saw as a decision that lacked empathy.

“The perception of me is that I am uncompromising, stubborn, indifferent and not ambitious,” says Levy. “A lot of this is unfair.
“They just don’t understand how difficult it is to get to this place where you improve the team.
“The engine of the club is the team and I hate it when you lose. It’s not something I can directly control – obviously I can influence by making the right decisions.
“But coming to that decision took a lot of heartache. My heart was telling me not to do it and my brain was telling me I had to do it.
“It was the most moving decision I had to make.”
