Grenada presenter Tony Morris’ funeral took place today


A private funeral was held today for Granada Reports presenter Tony Morris.

Tony, who was 57, died at Bury Hospice on August 1 after being diagnosed with kidney cancer last year.

He had presented the Granada reports for 17 years.

Thousands of viewers paid tribute to Tony in a Book of condolences.

The messages will be shared with his daughters Natalie and Rebecca.

There was also a huge wave of support for Bury the hospice in memory of Tony.

He received a remarkable £ 14,000 in donations from the public, as well as hundreds of cards and goodwill messages from across the country.

Talk to Guardian Natalie Morris, who is also a journalist, said it was undeniable that her father inspired others, but never considered herself a role model.

I now know how difficult it can be to be the only non-white face in editorial meetings, but he did that 20 years ago. It couldn’t have been easy, but it’s a testament to his talent and resilience as he broke those barriers and paved the way for a new generation.
