- Google may have accidentally revealed the launch date for the Pixel 5 and 4a 5G.
- Both phones could be available for pre-order in early October.
Google launched the long-awaited Pixel 4a just a few days ago, and also surprisingly confirmed that the higher-end Pixel 5 and Pixel 4a 5G will follow. It now appears that Google France accidentally revealed the launch date of the two new Pixels.
A 9to5Google A French reader recently discovered that the official Google blog for the Pixel 4a launch also mentioned the pre-order date for the Pixel 5 and Pixel 4a 5G. The mention has since been removed, but a cached version of the post exists and the automated translation of the snippet reads:
The Pixel 4a (5G) and the Pixel 5 will be available for pre-order from October 8, 2020.
Google usually opens pre-orders for its phones on the same day as launch, so October 8 could be the day we see the Pixel 5 and Pixel 4a 5G go official. It also seems like the right time to be, as Google has already confirmed a fall launch for phones and has a tradition of unveiling the flagship pixels in October.
Pixel 5 and Pixel 4a 5G: specifications and price
Google gave us a preview of the Pixel 5 and Pixel 4a 5G (see image above) on the day the Pixel 4a launched, so we’ve got a feel for how the devices will look. We also know that the Pixel 4a 5G will retail for $ 499 when it launches, but there is still no word on the specs of the phone.
We don’t know much about the Google Pixel 5 at this time either, except for a handful of rumors.
Leaks suggest the Pixel 5 won’t carry a flagship Snapdragon processor this year. We also recently encountered unconfirmed reports that the phone will feature a 120Hz display. As for its price, a Google survey suggests the phone could start selling for $ 699. If this is true, Google could have another remarkable device on its hands in a sea full of $ 1,000 flagships.
