GOOD Morning Britain’s Kate Garraway put her new bachelor co-host Alex Beresford with Love Island’s Amy Hart on today’s show.
The 39-year-old star looked sheepish as Kate asked him if he was on the dating app Tinder after it was revealed someone was a cat fishing fan with a fake account using the photos of the meteorologist.
When Alex confirmed he wasn’t on any of the apps, Kate revealed that Amy, 27, called him her number one crush.
She told her co-star, “You’re already very popular, Alex – and absolutely gorgeous girl Amy Hart has come to say that you’re her favorite crush. ”
Alex replied, “Apparently she followed me on Instagram a few days ago and she’s upset that I didn’t follow her, so maybe I’ll go to Instagram right away…”
Playing matchmaker, Kate gushed, “So Amy, if you look, he’s going to contact you – that’s exciting!” “
However, Alex looked baffled – and accidentally continued to make a crass innuendo, arguing, “Really? I said I was going to follow her, I didn’t say I was going to slip in, Kate! ”
Kate corrected, “Weren’t you going to slip into DMs?” ”
Alex blushed as he apologized for the rude reference, with Kate continuing, “Oh hello – everything is getting so hot I’m getting all hot and deranged!” “
Alex revealed he secretly separated from his wife Natalia in June, admitting he felt “really lonely” after the breakup in an interview for the Britain Get Talking podcast.
In the chat, the star spoke to newsreader Kylie Pentelow, who asked him if he’s looking for love.
The GMB frontrunner replied: “It’s been a huge learning curve, I didn’t think at the age of 20 that when I was approaching 40 I would be in this situation.
“At 40, you will be married, you will be an adult, you will have a child or two, your life will be better. I’m not old, I don’t feel old, it’s a little intimidating.
“But we were locked out, so even though I wanted to go on a date, I couldn’t go.
“I don’t want to grow old alone, life is made for sharing and it would be great to meet someone in the future, but they must be good for me, good for Cruz. ”
Alex and Natalia share Cruz, 10, and Alex faced additional heartache when he couldn’t see his son for two weeks when his ex developed symptoms of coronavirus.
He also praised the friends who supported him through the split, revealing that they had desperately tried to make things work with his wife before finally deciding to ‘go their separate ways’ last year.
However, they continued to live together for months after the decision.
Explaining that he and Natalia had been together for “a long time”, Alex continued, “I realized how strong I am, but I am only because of the people I have behind me.
“As we moved forward into the summer Natalia and I decided we were going to go our separate ways, which you know me – I’m no let go, and I hate to leave things.
“We’ve tried to work things out, but at some point you realize that the best thing for everyone to do is leave, but leaving is never easy. “

He shared, “We were in the same house until the start of this year, knowing that we were going our separate ways, it takes time to figure things out. One thing I didn’t want to do was rush things.
“Being in this house, knowing we weren’t together, we started to get along better – it took a lot of the stress and expectations away that a relationship can bring.
“It was so much to deal with, we are only human and have feelings and emotions.
“The important thing is to open up and talk to someone about what you’re going through. “
