Glasgow Bowling Club forced to close after member tested positive for coronavirus


A Scottish bowling club has been forced to temporarily close after a member tested positive for coronavirus. The Mount Vernon Bowling Club in Glasgow announced the sudden closure on Saturday after being contacted by a sick bowler.

Posting on social media, they said: “Unfortunately, a club member informed the board that they had tested positive for Covid-19.

“The club will now be closed until further notice.

“All members should have been informed by email from the club and section secretaries.

“I wish the member a speedy recovery and hope everyone is safe and well.”

The Scottish government on Saturday announced 51 new confirmed cases of coronavirus.

Eight have been found in the Greater Glasgow and Clyde area and the same number has also been found in Lanarkshire.

The Lothians and Tayside have detected four new cases while Orkney and Forth Valley have detected one each.

The NHS Grampian region had the largest amount with 25 people confirmed to be carriers of the virus.
