Further Greek expansion in Mediterranean would be an act of war, Turkey warns | World


Turkey has said any attempt by Greece to expand its maritime border will be an “act of war” as it prepares for new military exercises in northern Cyprus this week.

The leaders of NATO, of which both countries are members, and of the European Union are trying to ease tensions in the eastern Mediterranean. But Turkey has continued to issue threats over Greece’s insistence that its islands allow it to claim rights over much of the Aegean Sea. Turkey’s Defense Ministry posted a video on its website of what it called a clash between its F-16 fighters and Greek fighter jets on Thursday, with the Turkish jet apparently “locked” to its Greek rival .
