Sure 90 day fiancé, Chris and Nikki quickly took on major supporting roles: they sponsored Annie’s K-1 visa, argued with David about his drinking habits and his ‘eating’ ways, and even gave the couple their infamous apartment above a storage unit.
More notoriously, when Chris offered David and Annie temporary accommodation, he appeared to ask Annie to offer him free Thai massages instead of rent. After their appearance on 90 day fiancé, Nikki and Chris took to YouTube in 2018 to explain the infamous scene and what it was like filming with TLC.
Chris and Nikki claimed the show was somewhat scripted
In a video about their reality TV experience, Chris and Nikki went back on their time 90 day fiancé with Annie and David.
They didn’t specifically name the show, but they did give two clues – “the number between 89 and 91” and “seven ____ in a week” – to let fans know they were talking, of course. 90 day fiancé. Nikki has warned die-hard reality TV fans that they might not hear what they wanted during their reveal video.
In a candid interview, Chris and Nikki first addressed the question of whether 90 day fiancé was scripted by the producers. The answer to this question, they said, was complicated.
“Absolutely, in part,” Chris explained. “Part is real, then teased, added, subtracted. ”
Nikki explained further, “I wouldn’t say there’s a script written where it’s like, ‘hey, read that line, read that line.'”
Yet, she claimed, TLC producers would come to them and encourage them to improvise on certain topics or bring up certain topics. And after hours of filming at a time, she argued, they sometimes felt pressured to talk about particular topics repeatedly or by rote.

The couple made friends with David and Annie
As to whether they were still friends with David and Annie after their appearance on the show, Nikki and Chris said the answer was a bit complex as well. While they still spent time together, the relationship between Chris and David seemed to have cooled.
“Being friends with David is a lot like herpes,” Chris joked. “He always knows how to be a friend again. And he’s fine… But now I’m on his bulls * that.
Just two weeks earlier (at the time of the video), in fact, Chris claimed David asked him to co-sign a car.
In addition to reducing their friendship with Annie and David, who have since become 90 day fiancé fan favorites – Nikki and Chris seemed to have lukewarm feelings about their stint on reality TV. Nikki revealed that she was cut off from her reality TV experience when 90 day fiancé the producers would have distorted parts of their story.
A key part of the couple’s story, for example, was the fact that Nikki was unaware that her husband had agreed to sponsor Annie under the terms of the K-1 visa. But the 90 day fiancé The guest star claimed that this was actually not true at all, and that she and her husband had always discussed similar major issues beforehand.
“They felt it would be more dramatic, or better, to say I didn’t know about the sponsorship,” Nikki said in the video. “I absolutely knew they would be sponsored. But we both didn’t know it would be for 10 years. But I knew about sponsorship; I was fine with it. “
Chris called the ‘massage’ scene the most uncomfortable thing ‘he’s ever done’
As for the infamous “request for massage” scene, Chris admitted that he felt embarrassed to “play with”.
“It was probably the most uncomfortable thing I have ever done,” he said of his request for Annie to give him massages.
For her part, Nikki claimed that she warned her husband against 90 day fiancé The producers’ advance on their suggestion to offer a massage. She thought it would be misinterpreted.
“I said, ‘Honey, don’t do that. They’re going to blow it up, ”Nikki said, adding that she wished she had put her foot down at the time. But Chris thought that because they “weren’t the main characters” it would be easy enough to “play around” with the producers’ suggestions and avoid any major embarrassment.
According to Chris, he didn’t mention the massage until it was brought up by a 90 day fiancé producer.
“When we first sat down, I didn’t say anything like that,” he said. “And the producer said, ‘Chris, didn’t you want Annie to give you a massage?'”
After allegedly remaking the scene more than once and feeling more and more uncomfortable over time, Chris explained that he eventually started to feel like he could be misrepresented in series.
“When I left I said, ‘Dude, I just feel dirty,’” Chris said of the awkward moment.
As for Nikki, she spoke out against the producers of TLC at the time, because she felt that her husband’s character was “under attack” because of a fabricated scene. A lot 90 day fiancé Fans, she explained, had since asked her why she allowed Chris to “disrespect another woman” and “disrespect their marriage.”
But Nikki insisted that she would never have accepted or tolerated Chris’ statements if they had been real. The experience, she said, had made her more reluctant to accept what she saw on reality TV at face value.
