PARIS (Reuters) – French President Emmanuel Macron will travel to Beirut on Thursday and meet with the country’s politicians after an explosion ravaged the Lebanese capital, his office said.

Macron, who spoke to Lebanese President Michel Aoun shortly after the explosion, has already ordered French emergency aid to be sent to Lebanon, a country with deep historical ties to France.
