Bayer Leverkusen star Havertz is said to be Chelsea’s priority target with the signings of Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech already in the sack for £ 89million.
The west London side have also been linked with Leicester left-back Ben Chilwell and West Ham midfielder Declan Rice as Lampard bolsters his squad ready for another assault on the Premier League and Champions League this season next.
But once Havertz’s expected signing is over – which is expected to cost Chelsea over £ 70million – the next position they should target is that of a goalkeeper.
That’s the opinion of former Manchester United and Tottenham striker Dimitar Berbatov – and the player he suggests is the one who has been heavily linked with Chelsea this summer.
“They definitely need a goalkeeper and Jan Oblak would be a great option,” Berbatov told Betfair.
Oblak, 27, is considered one of the best goalkeepers in the world, but with three years left of his contract at Atletico Madrid, he is expected to cost the Blues around £ 72million.
In addition to the money already spent to land Werner and Ziyech from RB Leipzig and Ajax respectively, plus the expected spending on Havertz, it would appear to be a stretch – especially after Chelsea spent a similar amount on Kepa Arrizabalaga two years ago. .
Manager Lampard appears to have lost confidence in Arrizabalaga, after dropping the £ 71.5million man in last Sunday’s crucial clash with Wolves in favor of veteran Willy Caballero.
Another option for the Blues could be Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen, with Spanish radio station Cadena Ser reporting that Chelsea have made an offer to the 28-year-old.
Ter Stegen is under contract with Barca for another two years, so like Oblak could be difficult to reward. But Lampard would have been impressed with the German international’s composure on the ball and distribution.

Whether or not Chelsea land one of their goalkeeper targets this summer, Berbatov has been impressed with Lampard’s signings so far – and says Havertz would be an ‘incredible’ addition.
“Timo Werner was a good deal, and Willian looks like he could stick around if he wins the FA Cup,” Berbatov said ahead of Saturday’s final.
“There are still rumors that Kai Havertz would be an incredible player for them. “
