France reports new post-lockdown peak in daily COVID-19 cases

PARIS (Reuters) – France’s health ministry on Thursday reported 2,669 new coronavirus infections in the past 24 hours, setting a new daily record after the lockdown for the second day in a row and bringing the country’s cumulative total of cases to 209,365 .

The seven-day moving average of new infections, which is the average of weekly data reporting irregularities, rose to 1,962, a total that has doubled in the past two weeks and is at levels not seen since the end. April.
