PARIS (Reuters) - La France a enregistré jeudi un décompte quotidien de 6111 nouvelles infections à coronavirus confirmées, le niveau le plus élevé depuis la fin du verrouillage et le deuxième plus haut jamais enregistré.

This was the maximum since a high of 7,578 set on March 30 during the lockdown, at the height of the outbreak.

France’s health ministry said the total number of confirmed infections now stands at 259,698. On Wednesday, the country recorded 5,429 new infections, a new record after the lockdown.

The death toll from the coronavirus increased by 32 to 30,576 from Tuesday. As of Wednesday, no deaths or hospital data were reported due to a technical issue.

Despite the surge in new infections – which the government says primarily affect young people, who typically have few symptoms – the number of people hospitalized has fallen by 65 to a new post-lockdown low of 4,535 and the number of people in intensive care units. fell from 29 to 381.

Since late July, USI numbers have largely stabilized after failing from a high of 7,148 in early April.
