PARIS (AP) – French President Emmanuel Macron has said that France is not excluding Chinese Huawei from its upcoming 5G telecommunications networks, but is favoring European suppliers for security reasons. The French leader said he had informed the Chinese president of his preference for European suppliers such as Ericsson and Nokia. Macron said: “It is normal that we want a European solution” for security reasons. France limits Huawei to eight-year licenses and restricts its 5G technology to protect military bases and nuclear facilities. U.S. officials say Huawei poses a security risk, which the company denies. Macron met with the Chinese Foreign Minister on Friday in Paris.
