France and Juventus star Blaise Matuidi set to sign Inter Miami deal


STATUS OF TRANSFER TRACKING: ReportsFrench midfielder Blaise Matuidi, World Cup winner, has signed with Inter Miami, according to multiple reports.

Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano was the first to report a deal, which was later confirmed by ESPN.

Matuidi, 33, has been at Juventus since 2017 and has stops across his home country at Paris Saint-Germain, Saint-Etienne and Troyes. The midfielder still has a year on the contract, although he appears to land outside new head coach Andrea Pirlo’s plans against the Serie A giants.

Matuidi switched from PSG to Juventus for a fee of $ 27.5million, and a player of his stature would likely need a Designated Player tag. Inter Miami have a free seat alongside attacking midfielder Rodolfo Pizarro and wide Matias Pellegrini.

During his glittering career, Matuidi has won three Serie A titles and four Ligue 1 titles. He also has extensive Champions League experience and has won 84 caps for France, scoring nine times. He was a starter for The Blues en route to their 2018 World Cup victory over Croatia, and he was also in the XI at Euros 2016 and at the 2014 World Cup.

The MLS secondary transfer window opens this Wednesday (August 12) and ends October 29. United States; DAZN in Canada) against Florida rivals Orlando City for their inaugural home game.
