London firefighters said 15 fire engines were present

Around 100 firefighters tackle a blaze that has spread from a store in east London to nearby premises.

London firefighters said 15 fire engines were witnessing the blaze at “a range of shops” on Sherrard Road in Forest Gate, Newham.

The brigade was called in just before 10:30 p.m. BST on Sunday after the fire started in a “mid-terrace store” with an apartment above.

A man was treated by firefighters for smoke inhalation.

People are advised to stay away from the immediate surroundings.

About 26 local residents left the premises surrounding the blaze before the arrival of fire teams.

Images shared on social media show flames and plumes of smoke billowing from a row of stores.
