Florida High School Sports Approved Return This Fall Despite Thousands Of New Coronavirus Cases A Day


The return to high school sports in Florida was officially approved this fall. The Florida High School Athletic Association voted Friday to allow member schools to begin their season on August 24, despite the daily number of new coronavirus cases in the state continuously remaining in the thousands.Nearly 800 schools are part of the association. The fall season includes bowling, cross country, soccer, golf, swimming and diving, and women’s volleyball. As part of the season’s approval, coaches will need to make a “COVID waiver form” available to schools.

Florida has the second highest number of coronavirus cases in the United States, according to Johns Hopkins University.
