Five new local cases of COVID-19 over the weekend


There have now been more than 1,400 cases of the coronavirus in the Waterloo region since March.Five more were confirmed over the weekend, bringing the total to 1,403.

Three of the new cases are the result of community transmission, one is the result of close contact with a positive case and the other is travel-related.

Two more cases were resolved, bringing the total to 1,260.

The Waterloo Region Public Health Dashboard also shows that two of 24 active cases are being treated in hospital.

No additional local deaths have been linked to the virus since July 17.

There is also no change in the current single outbreak – a long-term care resident AR Goudie has tested positive.

Here is the provincial breakdown of COVID-19 for Monday:

  • 40,161 cases in total (115 new)
  • 49 people are treated in hospital
  • 36,381 cases resolved
  • 2,786 (no additional deaths reported Monday)
