Music fans voted in a poll released Friday (August 7) on Billboard, by choosing the last single from Joji’s next album, Nectar, like their new favorite music from last week.
In the clip for their new collaborative track, Diplo and Joji work behind the scenes on a video shoot for a group of elderly boys. The pair are tormented by a heavily tanned, waxed, and demanding director before breaking into the wardrobe department and wreaking innocent havoc on set.
“Daylight” garnered 42% of the vote this week, beating Cardi B’s new music with Megan Thee Stallion (“WAP”), Juice WRLD with The Weeknd (“Smile”) and Doja Cat (“Freak”).
Joji Nectar The release is scheduled for September 25 at 88rising, with distribution by 12Tone Music.
Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion’s wet and wild collaboration, “WAP,” came in second in this week’s poll with 26% of the vote. The clip for the new track featured cameos from Normani, Mulatto, Sukihana and others.
“WAP,” which samples “Whores in This House” by Frank Ski, ultimately pays homage to Lil ‘Kim, thanks to his iconic squat, colorful wigs that match the ensemble, hair designs and nipple pasties, as well as hip ’90s hops stylist Misa Hylton, who was instrumental in the look of Lil’ Kim.
The third category in this week’s poll was the “other” category, which accounted for 16% of the vote, followed by Juice WRLD and The Weekend in fourth with 7%.
