Fabian Delph to ‘run the show’ in Leeds

Former Leeds United striker Noel Whelan believes Fabian Delph would be a quality signing for newly promoted Marcelo Bielsa side.

Delph joined the Blues from Manchester City last summer but injuries have so far marred his career at Goodison Park.

Earlier this week, the midfielder was linked with a return to Elland Road where he of course began his playing career.

Whelan believes Delph’s injury issues would be a problem if a deal were to be made, but that he would be the perfect type of experienced player Leeds could benefit from having in the camp.

He told Football Insider: “He’s a great football player, he’s Fabian, he can command and run the show when he’s there and at the peak of his performance.

“I’m a little worried that he’s been a bit injured this season. If he manages to achieve that and we can have a fit Fabian Delph, his experience and quality will undoubtedly strengthen Leeds United.

“You must be wondering if he’s picking up these wounds for a reason now?” That’s my only worry, but £ 5million for a player with that ability is a snip. “
