Losing Richarlison would be a “big blow” for Everton, claims a former Premier League striker.
The Blues ace discussed his future with Globo Esporte in his native Brazil last week and admitted he would like to sit down and talk about a move away from Goodison “if a good deal comes in”.
ECHO subsequently reported that Everton was relaxed about Richarlison’s future and viewed his quote of “holding on for another season” as a throwaway remark at the end of his response.
However, Darren Bent believes it is imperative that Carlo Ancelotti clings to the club’s top scorer for the 2019/20 season.
He told Football Insider:
« There was obviously this report that Barcelona made this massive offer for him and obviously if Barcelona came for him with those kind of fees it’s hard to say now.
“I guess that’s what he’s referring to – if one of the big boys comes in, he at least wants a chance to go and maybe talk to them and see what happens.”
“Obviously that would be a real blow for Carlo Ancelotti, who is trying to build something there, but look, he was very good for Everton, I wouldn’t say his stats justified an 80million offer. pound sterling.
“I wouldn’t say he’s at that kind of level, but we know what transfer fees look like these days, they’re absolutely crazy. He’s a good player and it would be a big blow if he left because I can see what Ancelotti is trying to build.
“It would be a big blow, but I can understand from Richarlison’s point of view if a club like Barcelona, one of the biggest in the world, comes in, they at least want to have the chance to talk to them.
