Egyptian pundits hit back at Elon Musk after the founder of SpaceX tweeted about a conspiracy theory that aliens built the pyramids.

“The aliens built the obv pyramids,” Musk wrote.

He then tweeted again: “The Great Pyramid was the tallest structure built by humans for 3,800 years. Three thousand eight hundred years. “

His initial tweet was liked by over 500,000 people.

Scientists still don’t know how the Egyptian pyramids were built before modern technology, given that the millions of stones used would be difficult to move without cranes.

This helped fuel the unproven conspiracy theory that aliens were involved in their construction.

But experts say there is plenty of evidence that the pyramids were built by human hands, although it’s unclear how.

Egyptian Minister for International Cooperation Rania al Mashat invited Musk to visit the tombs of the pyramid builders to see for himself.

“I follow your work with great admiration. I invite you and Space X to explore the writings on the building of pyramids and also to discover the tombs of the pyramid builders, ”she said.

“Mr. Musk, we are expecting you. ”

The billionaire tech mogul’s remark was also refuted by Egyptologist Zahi Hawass, who dismissed the claim as a “total hallucination.”

Musk has posted erratic and controversial tweets at times, some of which put him in hot water.

The pyramids were built as tombs for the pharaohs who ruled ancient Egypt.
