Edinburgh New Town bar shuts down on Covid fears


A downtown bar has closed over Covid fears after announcing that one of its Friday night diners tested positive.

Le Bon Vivant of Thistle Street announced on social media that a couple who dined on the premises on Friday night had since tested positive.

Thistle Street bar announced on Facebook that one of their diners tested positive.

The bar decided to close temporarily to allow staff to get tested and to clean the place thoroughly.

In their statement, The Bon Vivant said, “We take our responsibilities to ensure the safety of those around us and the open city very seriously. These measures are part of the protocols we have put in place to stop the spread of the virus.

“The support since the reopening has been extraordinary and we would like to thank you for your loyalty, your patience and your understanding during these times.

“Le Bon Vivant will reopen very soon and we look forward to welcoming you again. We will contact you if your reservation has been affected. ”
