EastEnders Star Adam Woodyatt has confirmed he is estranged from his 22-year-old wife Beverley Sharp.
A spokesperson for actor Ian Beale said (via The sun): “Beverley and Adam separated in August of last year and we ask that the privacy of the family be respected. “
Adam and Beverley married in 1998 and have two grown children together.
Adam starred as Ian Beale on EastEnders since the first episode of soap in 1985.
Earlier this month, it was confirmed that Ian was set to take a hiatus from Albert Square as part of a big storyline.
A EastEnders insider says Digital spy: “Ian is going to be off-screen as part of a big storyline. The bosses are keeping a low profile, but it’s unclear how long this will last. “
Ian currently holds a dark secret about Dennis Rickman’s death, and things don’t go well when Queen Vic – which he and Sharon now own – reopens.
It comes like EastEnders confirmed last week that the soap will finally return to our screens on September 7 after a hiatus in June.
Speaking of the soap opera’s return, executive producer Jon Sen said, “From the moment we turned the lights off in The Queen Vic, our ambition was to come back in full force and this fall certainly will.
“As soon as Albert Square wakes up, the drama returns to a beat and while working within the social distancing guidelines has certainly given us new challenges, I’m incredibly proud of what everyone has accomplished. The show is fantastic and we can’t wait for ‘series two’ to begin… ”
