Durham University has pledged to provide more information on its offering in the coming days

A university offers financial incentives to students with the aim of persuading them to postpone their studies after the U-turn of A-level results.

Durham University has pledged a scholarship and an accommodation guarantee for all those who postpone until 2021.

He said he had “capacity issues” due to the “unprecedented situation”.

UK student exam scores have been revised following a backlash on grading systems.

Durham University has said “it is possible that some offer holders” will have to register in 2021 rather than next month as it struggles to provide enough places.

In an attempt to “downplay” the number of people affected, he said he would “seek volunteers” and offer incentives “to help their transition to college life” next year.

He did not confirm the value of the scholarships.

‘Failed students’

With students unable to sit for exams due to the coronavirus pandemic, ministers for England, Northern Ireland and Wales on Monday decided to revert to teacher-assessed grades rather than those decided by an algorithm.

Scotland had reverted to teacher-assessed grades on August 4 after a similar outcry.

This led to a scramble for college places as students tried to reclaim places after being rejected days earlier.

The Institute for Fiscal Studies accused the government of failing students and universities.

He said the A-level results “should never have been released before going for a review beyond Ofqual” and ministers “shouldn’t have had to rely on 18-year-olds. years shocked on results day to realize that there was a problem ”.

The government plans to remove caps on student numbers and has said it will work closely with universities on the challenges they face.
