Durham reports new COVID-19 case on Thursday, active cases drop to 28

The Durham Department of Health is reporting a new case of COVID-19 on Thursday, but it is not immediately clear where the case is.

Although the region claims to have confirmed 1,879 cases, the regional distribution does not reflect this.

Again, no explanation was provided for the missing information.

However, the seven missing cases from yesterday appear to have been added to the local totals. That seems to be the reason it looks like seven new cases.

The health department says there are currently 28 active cases in the region, one less than what was reported in Wednesday’s update.

Two are treated in hospital, both in intensive care, while the others are isolated at home.

Of the 1,879 cases reported in Durham since the start of the pandemic, 1,670 are listed as resolved.

Here’s the regional breakdown for Thursday:

Pickering – 612 cases in total, eight active (a new case)
Ajax – 513 cases in total, 14 active (six new cases)
Whitby – 216 cases in total, one active (no new cases)
Oshawa – 290 cases in total, zero active (no new cases)
Clarington – 108 cases in total, three active (no new cases)
Uxbridge – 108 cases in total, zero active (no new cases)
Scugog – 20 cases in total, zero active (no new cases)
Brock – 11 cases in total, zero active (no new cases)
