Disney World to reduce park opening hours from September

All four of Walt Disney World’s theme parks will begin to reduce their opening hours in September.

Starting Tuesday, September 8, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Animal Kingdom, and Magic Kingdom will all close one hour earlier, while Epcot will close two hours earlier. The new park hours of operation can be found on the Disney World website.

Disney declined to comment on why it is shortening theme park hours. Due to the pandemic, Disney has added new safety measures, including limiting the number of visitors allowed to parks and increasing its park cleaning schedules.

Disneyland and Disney World were closed in March due to the coronavirus. Disney World in Florida reopened in July, while Disneyland in California remains closed. In its third quarter results this month, Disney reported that its theme parks division suffered a $ 3.5 billion impact on operating income due to the pandemic.

The United States passed more than 5 million cases of the coronavirus last weekend. California and Florida have the highest number of coronavirus cases in the country, with the two states exceeding more than 500,000 cases, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
